Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What does a loft conversion cost?

There isn’t an easy answer as many factors affect the cost, but we are happy to come and visit your property and discuss your requirements. After a simple site visit we will be able to give you a fixed price quotation. It’s free of charge and there’s no commitment. Request a visit today.

Can my loft be converted?

Most likely yes. The minimum height you need for a loft conversion is 2.2m. Take a measurement from the bottom of the ridge timber to the top of the ceiling joist; if it’s 2.2m or more, your loft should be tall enough to convert.

Can you convert trussed roof properties?

Absolutely! We specialise in converting modern trussed rafter properties, often considered too difficult or impossible by traditional builders and architects.

Will I need to obtain planning permission?

Whilst all conversions have to comply with building regulations, most loft conversions can be carried out without planning permission. But don’t worry, either way we help with all that. With over 36 years experience in specialising exclusively with loft conversions, we know the process inside out.

How long does a loft conversion take?

This depends on many factors, but typically construction will be complete in just 3–6 weeks.

Will it be a big disruption?

We’re a family company and we take pride in ensuring disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. We’ll always take material in through the roof where possible, rather than through your property, and every day we’ll leave your home clean and tidy. There’s no need to move out.

Which type of loft conversion should I go for?

There are four main types of loft conversion: roof light, dormer, hip-to-gable and mansard. The one you choose is likely to be determined by a number of factors, including the type and age of house you live in, and your budget. We’ll advise you of your best options upon a site visit.
